NEW YORK — Joaquin Phoenix maintained his new mystery persona with an awkward appearance on Wednesday night's "Late Show with David Letterman."
Phoenix, who recently announced his plans to leave acting behind in order to pursue a rap career, was less than forthcoming throughout the interview. His bizarre behavior at one point included putting his gum under Letterman's desk.
Letterman was in tip-top form, however, asking at one point: "What can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?"
Phoenix was appearing in support of his apparent acting swan song, the flick "Two Lovers," in which he stars alongside Gwyneth Paltrow.
