HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — There were plenty of live performances at Sunday night's Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, but few could match the entertainment value of Laura Bell Bundy singing her hit single, "Giddy On Up."
The 29-year-old star danced around stage at a feverish pace as she kicked up her heels while wearing a belly-baring top and chaps over skintight jeans. Moments before making her ACM debut, Bundy admitted she was anxious to perform.
"I'm so excited about it," she told MTV News. "I'm honored to have the opportunity."
"Giddy On Up" is the first single off Bundy's just-released second country album, Achin' and Shakin'. The Broadway star, whose stage credits include Hairspray and Legally Blonde — The Musical, said her acting career remains very much alive despite her climb up the country charts.
"I'm producing a Broadway show, so that's kind of where my toe is still dipped in the water," she said. "It's a lot of commitment to go and do a Broadway show — it takes a year and a half to two years of your life, and I'm not willing to give this up right now."
