Video: Levi Johnston Discusses Sarah Palin on NBC's 'Today Show'

By Chloe Bunker on July 13, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin's grandson, is continuing to question the Alaska governor's decision to step down from her post. As far as Johnston is concerned, Palin let fame get to her head after she soared into the limelight with the Republican vice-presidency ticket in last year's election.

"Being up there and running for vice president, that's totally different than governor — cameras every day, she had Secret Service, you name it. And just seeing how she acted after it was all gone, I just think that it definitely got to her head," Johnston told Ann Curry on Monday's "Today Show."

During his appearance, the 19-year-old Johnston repeated his sentiments that Palin's resignation was dictated by wanting to cash in on her newfound fame.

"There's been talk about it would be nice to just take the money and run," said Johnston, who briefly lived with the Palins until his engagement to Bristol Palin ended.

Palin has responded to Johnston's recent remarks by saying, "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills."

"I speak the truth the whole time. I don't let anybody intimidate me," the aspiring actor told Curry of Palin's response.

As for whether his one-time future mother-in-law would get his vote in the future should she run for president, Johnston responded: "If you'd asked me that question a while back, I think [she] would've. But after what she had done now, you know, quitting on Alaska, I don't really think that she's been the governor she could have for Alaska.

"She means a lot to me. I'd do just about anything for her — but I really don't think I would vote for her if she ran for president."
