MADRID — Perhaps Miley Cyrus can be tamed after all.
The 17-year-old singer avoided controversy with her latest performance, in which she sang her new single, "Who Owns My Heart," at Sunday's MTV EMA Awards.
The Disney star's tame outfit and performance comes after the video for the song was slammed by the Parents Television Council. The controversial video, which premiered last month, opens with Cyrus lying on a bed in hot pants and a tank top.
Pop sensation Lady Gaga topped the winners list at the 2010 MTV EMAs, scooping up awards for Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song.
Other performers at the ceremony held in Madrid, Spain included Rihanna, Katy Perry and Shakira, who took the stage alongside British rap star Dizzee Rascal.
