HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Paula Abdul paid homage to her "American Idol" replacement Thursday night while hosting VH1's "Divas Live."
Abdul took the stage wearing a blonde wig and suit, a trademark look of Ellen DeGeneres, who signed on last week as the newest "Idol" judge.
"Why are you all staring at me? Can't a girl try out for a new job?," joked the 47-year-old "Straight Up" impersonator.
Abdul then got serious as she sat down in a setting eerily similar to that of the daytime talk-show host.
"All kidding aside, [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig," said Abdul.
"And call me!" she added. "You gotta call me if you have any Simon problems, 'cause you know, I know him best."
DeGeneres responded by giving the skit a thumbs up.
"Paula - You're hilarious," she wrote Friday on her Twitter page. "You've left me some big shoes to fill...unfortunately I don't wear high heels. Nothing but love for you too."
