White Stripes Drummer Meg White to Marry Musician Jackson Smith

The White Stripes drummer is engaged to guitarist Jackson Smith, a member of the Detroit rock band Back in Spades.

According to The Detroit News, Smith popped the question earlier this year. He is the son of legendary rockers Patti Smith and the late Fred "Sonic" Smith.

Sources told the paper that the couple is planning a low-key wedding on May 22 in Nashville, Tenn.

This will be the second wedding for White, who split with her White Stripes bandmate Jack White after four years of marriage in 2000.

The White Stripes are currently on hiatus, with Jack White due to a release an album in June with his third band, The Dead Weather.
