HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Whitney Port is back in the singles market.
The reality TV star and her boyfriend, Australian musician Jay Lyon, have split. The pair's romance first played out on MTV's "The Hills," before shifting to the show's spinoff, "The City," in which Port is the star.
Adam Divello, the creator and executive producer of "The City," confirmed the couple's breakup Monday.
“Whitney and Jay are broken up as of 'The City' season finale," Divello told Us Weekly. "There were a few factors in their relationship that led to their split and fans saw those play out on-air."
Port and Lyon had been dating for less than a year and the aspiring fashion star said having a romance play out on TV is "really difficult."
"It's hard to have an intimate relationship no matter what, whether there are cameras there or not, so it's not the most natural thing," she told Us last Friday in Vegas, where she was attending her sister's bachelorette party. "It kind of speeds [the relationship] up. It takes a lot of the spontaneity out of it."
