HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — A member of the paparazzi has filed a $2.5 million dollar lawsuit against actor Woody Harrelson, The Associated Press reports.
Photographer Josh Levine filed the suit Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming the 46-year-old star choked him, broke his video camera and ordered his bodyguard to attack him.
Levine was working for celebrity news organization TMZ at the time of the June 2006 encounter, which took place in Hollywood as he attempted to film the former "Cheers" star.
Levine, who is also suing the unidentified bodyguard, claims he still has mental, physical and emotional pain from the incident.
Harrelson starred as Woody Boyd on the NBC sitcom "Cheers" from 1985-1993. In 1997, he received a best actor Oscar nominator for his portrayal of magazine publisher Larry Flynt in "The People vs. Larry Flynt."
Harrelson's other notable film roles include Mickey Knox in "Natural Born Killers," Dusty in "A Prairie Home Companion" and Carson Wells in "No Country for Old Men."
