HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Zac Efron says he's learned much more about his craft, thanks to a couple of new projects he's been working on.
Efron credits the upcoming "Me and Orson Welles," a film in which his character ends up being directed by a young Welles, for turning him into a movie buff.
"I would never have, until now, called myself a movie buff," the 20-year-old star reveals in the October issue of Teen Vogue. "But I've found so many films that I never knew existed."
The "High School Musical" star is also thankful for his experience working alongside Matthew Perry on the feature "17 Again." In the film, Perry portrays a man who gets to change his life by returning to his younger years. Efron stars as the younger version of the character.
"It was hard to play someone that I couldn't relate to in the slightest," Efron tells the magazine.
"The director [Burr Steers] taught me a lot about the art of acting, which I hadn't been schooled in before," he continued. "I've got a better understanding of what it means to be an actor now."
As for becoming a paparazzi magnet, Efron says he realizes his life has changed forever, but it's "so important to feel normal."
"I'm not going to complain," he shares. "But it's something I'm learning to cope with."
With shooting completed on the much-anticipated "High School Musical 3," Efron says fans won't be disappointed when the movie hits theaters for the very first time.
"It was great. The whole family got back together again," he says. We did what we do best — singing and dancing our hearts out."
