HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Zsa Zsa Gabor has been hospitalized after falling out of bed Saturday night at home, her husband tells CNN.
The 93-year-old star was watching Jeopardy when she reached to answer the phone and fell. She was rushed by ambulance to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif., where doctors discovered she had a broken hip. They plan to operate on her later today.
"It's a complicated thing," Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, told CNN. "It was an accident. And she is not that young anymore."
Gabor's publicist, John Blanchette, said the actress has been "pretty much confined to a wheelchair" since a 2002 car accident, but she remains in good spirits.
"She has an active mind. She's very bright. She's funny. She always makes me laugh whenever I talk to her," Blanchette told CNN. "Her body's failing her."
Gabor was famously sentenced to 72 hours in jail for slapping a Beverly Hills police officer after a 1989 traffic stop. The Hungarian-born star has also received plenty of attention for her love life, having been married eight times.
