LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Grammy-winning singer Toni Braxton was admitted to a Las Vegas hospital Monday night after experiencing chest pains, the Associated Press reports.
The 40-year-old Braxton was hospitalized overnight and was expected to be released after precautionary tests, Flamingo Las Vegas hotel-casino and Harrah's Entertainment Inc. spokeswoman Deanna Pettit told AP.
Braxton has been performing her live show, "Toni Braxton: Revealed," five days a week at the Flamingo since August 2006. She had an off day yesterday, but her Tuesday night performance was cancelled. It was not immediately clear if her show on Wednesday was in jeopardy.
The singer has been treated in the past for pericarditis, which is a viral inflammation of the heart.
"We wish Toni a quick recovery and would like her to take the time she needs to regain optimal health," Flamingo president Don Marrandino told AP.
Braxton has six Grammy Awards to her name and has sold more than 40 million records worldwide. Her No. 1 hit, "Un-Break My Heart," is the second biggest single by a female artist in history.
