HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ashlee Simpson is opening up about her makeover, admitting that she struggled with her appearance for many years.
"I used to look at a beautiful girl on the cover of a magazine and think I could never be that," the 23-year-old singer reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly.
Simpson has undergone a noticeable transformation in recent time, including a rhinoplasty in April 2006.
"I think as long as people have two eyes, then you probably know the answer," she says of the plastic surgery rumors that have surrounded her.
"[Plastic surgery] is something that everybody should think about for a really long time," she adds. "Once you know it's something you really feel comfortable with, then to each their own."
The changes have seemed to bring about a confidence that wasn't always present in Simpson, something the "Little Miss Obsessive" singer seems to embrace on a more regular basis now.
"I definitely embrace my sexy side, but at the end of the day, I still feel like the girl next door," she says. "I like to get dressed up now, and that's something I've never been into before."
While she has transformed on the outside, Simpson says she's still the same person she's always been.
"I was never really unhappy with how I looked, [and] I don't think I am more beautiful than I was [before]," she says. "I just see the same old goofy girl I see every day."
