HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jesse McCartney has spoken out after a report in last week's In Touch Weekly magazine claimed the pop star was using JDate to meet women.
"I just wanted to set the record straight and let everyone know that the profile I created on JDate was a joke! I was hangin' with some friends and we thought that it would be really funny to see peoples' reactions," McCartney writes in an email to UsMagazine.com. The hilarity of it all is that until I announced having a profile on the site, nobody believed it was me. Single-life has been great!
The 20-year-old McCartney ended with, "Good luck to everyone on JDate, Jesse"
McCartney, who previously dated actress Katie Cassidy for two-and-a-half years, rose to fame as a member of the boy band Dream Street before launching his solo career. He is also a daytime Emmy-nominated actor, having worked on ABC's "All My Children."
Last month, In Touch made a false claim that pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears had been "dumped" by her boyfriend Casey Aldridge.
The magazine's sister pub, Life & Style, also drew the wrath of actor Brad Pitt earlier this month, who lashed out about a report that he and Angelina Jolie have intensified security because their daughter Shiloh is the target of death threats. Pitt called the article "reckless and dangerous" and "absolutely not true."
