LONDON — Amy Winehouse will perform at Sunday's Grammy Awards live via satellite from London, ceremony officials revealed on Friday.
Organizers for the 50th annual awards ceremony shifted gears when it was revealed that the troubled pop star's visa had been rejected by U.S. government officials.
The British retro soul singer earned six nominations for this year's Grammys, including record of the year for her breakthrough hit "Rehab." Trailing only rap star Kanye West, who received eight nominations, the 24-year-old singer also earned nods for album of the year, song of the year, best new artist, female pop vocal performance and pop vocal album.
According to Grammy officials, Winehouse will perform from a London studio. Her song has not been revealed, but speculation is she will most likely sing "Rehab."
Winehouse's visa denial is not considered a huge surprise since the U.S. has been cracking down on foreign artists with blemished records. She is currently in a rehab facility following a well-documented drug addiction.
The Grammys will be held in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.
