HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Beyoncé Knowles has signed up to play the role of blues star Etta James in the upcoming film "Cadillac Records."
Knowles, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as girl-group member Deena Jones in the hit 2006 musical "Dreamgirls," will also be an executive producer on the film. The movie revolves around the founder of Chicago's Chess Records and his roster of stars.
The 10-time Grammy winner Knowles joins a cast that already includes Adrien Brody, who will star as Chess Records founder Leonard Chess. Others already lined up for the film include Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters, Cedric the Entertainer as Willie Dixon, and Columbus Short as Little Walter.
The 26-year-old multi-talented star will also contribute four songs to the film's soundtrack.
According to her reps, Knowles is donating some of her paycheck from the film to her family's charity, the Survivor Foundation, which assists recovering addicts.
