HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am is venturing into new territories, landing his feature film debut in the "X-Men" spinoff, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
"Wolverine," which is set 17 years prior to the "X-Men" movies, will trace the origins of the mutant superhero, with Hugh Jackman back again in the starring role.
In the latest installment of the franchise, the 32-year-old Will.i.am will play a mutant by the name of Wraith, who has the ability to turn himself translucent. Will.i.am, whose real name is Williams Adams, has had a few minor TV roles in the past on "Cane" and Joan of Arcadia."
Others already lined up for the film include Danny Huston, Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins. Ryan Reynolds will also make a cameo appearance.
Production on the film started earlier this month in New Zealand and then moved on to Australia. Shooting is also expected to take place in New Orleans in the future.
The film is slated to be released on May 1, 2009.
