HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Britney Spears has some competition on the small screen.
Lindsay Lohan has signed on to make a guest appearance on the May 22 season finale of ABC's hit series "Ugly Betty," according to several published reports.
The 21-year-old star will play an old classmate of America Ferrera's character Betty Suarez, according to Variety.
Lohan began shooting her scenes over the weekend, Variety says. The actress is also expected to appear in at least five episodes next season.
The young star, who has been in and out of rehab, will be hoping her appearance marks the start of a comeback in her career. Fellow troubled 20's star Spears recently earned high praise for her guest turn on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," for which she earned a repeat visit.
Lohan's last major acting role was the 2007 film "I Know Who Killed Me," which failed miserably at the box office.
