HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — As one of the world's most famous supermodels, Cindy Crawford has a desire to age gracefully, but the now 43-year-old mother of two is keeping her expectations realistic.
"I have cellulite. I admit it," Crawford confesses in the September issue of Redbook. "But sometimes I just say, 'Screw it, I am going to wear a bikini.' "
Crawford may not be under the same spotlight as she was during the height of her career, but she still feels the pressure to look good to this very day.
"I think I look good for my age," she says. "I am not 25; I am 43. That feels like a big pressure, especially when the National Enquirer is dying to get a picture. I am so aware that I don't want to change the way I live because of that kind of attention ... You just brace yourself for a bad picture."
Having graced the cover of so many popular magazines during her career, Crawford confesses that her fans often have unrealistic expectations when she enters the room.
"I always say even I don't wake up looking like Cindy Crawford!" she says. "What people see on magazine covers is one moment that was perfect — the wind, the light, the hair, the makeup. That's a two-hour process. People get excited that they're meeting the Cindy Crawford from the Playboy spread 13 years ago, and I am a mother of two now"
While she's no longer spending her time on the runway, Crawford keeps herself in shape chasing around her son Presley, 10, and daughter, Kaia, 8, with husband Rande Gerber. She also enjoys a good hike with friends so she can get her "girl time" in.
"Mostly we talk about kids and husbands," she says. "My friends are redefining themselves as their kids get older, and now that the kids need them less, they're thinking about how they stay interested in things."
When it comes to her own children, Crawford says it takes very little for the whole family to be entertained.
"My kids are so great," she says. "They don't need a big production. One night, we sat on the couch and my son had taken off his socks, and we ended up throwing the socks at each other like Hot Potato for 20 minutes."
While she enjoys her mommy duties, the brunette beauty is still keeping busy on the career front as well with the launch of her new Cindy Crawford Style home collection at JCPenney next month.
"It's my take on home fashion," Crawford explains of her collection. "The whole concept is to help women discover their own livable, comfortable style by offering versatile pieces that are updated classics.
"I love the idea of home as your sanctuary, as the place that tells a story about you — and how individual that is for every person."
