HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Chris Brown says he doesn't remember hitting Rihanna on that fateful February night that led to his arrest for assaulting his former girlfriend.
"I'm in shock, because, first of all, that's not who I am as a person, and that's not who I promise I want to be," the 20-year-old singer tells Larry King in an interview scheduled to air on CNN Wednesday night.
"I just don't know what to think. I'm just like, wow," Brown adds. "It's crazy to me."
The R&B star also tells King that he has a hard time looking at the picture of Rihanna's beaten and bruised face from the assault.
"When I look at it now, it's just like, wow, like, I can't believe that that actually happened," he says.
Brown pleaded guilty to the assault in June and was formally sentenced last week to five years of probation and six months of community labor service. While he was also ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna, Brown says he's still in love with the singer and does not look look forward to hearing about her dating someone else.
"I definitely would be affected by it, but at the end of the day, I mean, we're not together, so if she's happy, I'm cool," he says.
