AUSTIN, Texas - The South by Southwest music festival just got a little stronger.
Georgia rockers R.E.M. and the Black Crowes have joined the lineup for this year's South by Southwest music festival and conference, which will take place March 12-16 in Austin, Texas.
Other additions to the popular music showcase include the Black Keys, the Raveonettes, the Von Bondies, and rapper Bun B, who formed one-half of UGK with recently deceased partner Pimp C.
Previously announced acts for the festival include My Morning Jacket, the Breeders, Daniel Lanois and the Kills.
The Black Crowes will take to the stage on March 15, 11 days after the release of their first studio album in seven years, "Warpaint."
Lou Reed will be delivering this year's keynote address at the festival. Panelists during the festival will include musicians Thurston Moore and Daryl Hall, as well as Sire Records founder Seymour Stein.
