HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lauren Conrad has landed a sweet movie deal.
Temple Hill Entertainment has acquired the screen rights to Conrad's best-selling novel L.A. Candy, according to Variety.
The movie project will be produced by Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, the trade publication said.
Last September, the former "Hills" star inked a three-book deal to scribe L.A. Candy for publisher HarperCollins. The series is based loosely on Conrad's own life, telling the story of a young girl named Jane Roberts who moves to L.A. and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show.
Conrad's debut book was released in June and has been on the New York Times best-seller list for 14 weeks.
The 23-year-old has been busy for several months working on adapting her novel for the big screen.
"Lauren, who became an icon in that reality show world, came to us with a structure of how to tell the story in an interesting fashion that was separate and apart from the book," said Bowen. "We loved her take. Her book is an honest portrayal of what it must be like to set out to be normal, then sign on to become famous and eventually realize, wow, this isn't at all what I'd planned for myself."
