HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Chris Brown is speaking out after Rihanna went on 20/20 and offered a detailed account of the night Brown assaulted her.
"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us," Brown said in a statement to MTV News.
The "Umbrella" singer offered chilling details about the assault during the interview that aired Friday night, telling Diane Sawyer that Brown put her in a headlock twice and bit her ears and fingers. Rihanna also said that she felt ashamed to have been involved with the "Kiss Kiss" singer in the first place.
"That's embarrassing that that's the type of person that I fell in love with," she said. "[I was] so far in love, so unconditional that I went back. It's humiliating to say this happened. To accept that? It's a traumatizing experience."
Brown once again apologized for his actions, which led to him pleading guilt to felony assault in June.
"I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions," he told MTV. "At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."
