HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jamie Kennedy has signed on to produce the indie film "In Northwood," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The drama revolves around a man who is sent away to a mental institution after committing murder. Described as a "redemption tale," the movie will star Nick Stahl, who will be joined by co-stars Olivia Wilde, Dash Mihok and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
The 38-year-old Kennedy tells the trade publication that the film takes place "at a moment when you're at a crossroads and have to choose what decisions you would make to survive."
The project is scheduled to begin production this month.
Kennedy, who rose to fame thanks to his WB sketch show "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment," says he hopes to focus more on producing in the future, in addition to showing he has interests beyond just comedy.
"I'd like to be someone who produces different things, whether it's funny or scary or dramatic," Kennedy tells the Reporter. "I want to show people I can produce movies without necessarily putting my face in them."
