HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Oasis has found a new home after more than a decade with Sony Music.

The British band has signed with Warner Bros. Records, which announced a North American distribution deal today with Big Brother Recordings, the label owned by Noel and Liam Gallagher.

The new deal will kick off with the band's latest studio album, "Dig Out Your Soul," which will be released on Oct. 7.

The new release, which was recorded at Abbey Road and mixed in Los Angeles, is the band's seventh studio album and will showcase their new approach to songwriting.

"I wanted to write music that had a groove, not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus, and middle eight," Noel Gallagher explained. "I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic and driving, with songs that would draw you in; songs that you would maybe have to connect to — to feel."

Warner Bros. Records COO Diarmuid Quinn said the new material "kicks ass" and he's excited about the joint venture.

"Oasis is a world class band with a remarkable history," he said. "Everyone at Warner/Reprise could not be more excited at the prospect of supporting such great artists."

Oasis was formed in Manchester in 1991. The group has sold more than 55 million albums worldwide to date.

The first single from the band's forthcoming album, the Noel Gallagher-penned song "The Shock of Lightning," will hit radio in mid-August. It will be their first new track since the 2006 song "Lord Don't Slow Me Down."
