HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Having suffered through his own public scandal, Chris Brown can relate to what Tiger Woods is going through these days.
"My hat goes off to him," the 20-year-old singer said of the PGA star's admitted infidelity during an interview Wednesday with Mojo in the Morning. "I support him. I hope he gets back on the field and does his thing because he is the best at it."
In rooting for Woods, Brown said he's hopeful the embattled golfer will rise to the top again.
"I think people always deserve a second chance. I know my fans gave me a second chance," said Brown, who is currently serving a five-year probation sentence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
The R&B star also said he can relate to the media scrutiny that has surrounded Woods ever since the golfer's affair scandal surfaced in November.
"Whatever his personal life is—and I think this goes for me and him—his personal life is his personal life," explained Brown. "Nobody has the right to place judgment or make any judgment on somebody else's personal life when they're not directly involved with them."
"He plays golf. That's his sport, that's his hobby, that's his love, that's what people love him for. They don't love him for the other stuff that they talk about," he continued. "Even with me, I do music, I sing songs, I'm an entertainer, I'm a performer. But people make mistakes."
Brown said it isn't his place to contact Woods to discuss their experiences, but he is optimistic that both men will come out stronger in the end.
"I think people have to realize that everybody's human," said Brown. "The good thing is, if you learn from your mistakes, then that's a part of life. I think that's a part of living and learning from mistakes and becoming a better person and growing from situations."
