HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Controversial NFL star Michael Vick has joined the cast of Spike TV's Pros vs. Joes, the network announced Friday.
Vick joins a star-studded cast that includes fellow Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb, Terrell Owens, Antonio Gates, Warrick Dunn, Isaac Bruce, Derrick Brooks and Jeff Garcia. The basketball legends are Hakeem Olajuwon, Chris Mullin, Kenny Smith, Brent Barry, Isaiah Rider and Rick Fox.
Pros vs. Joes features regular guys competing against an array of popular sports legends from the last two decades. As with last season, there will be only one sport played in each episode featuring three skill competitions and a three-on-three game pitting the Pros against the Joes. The sports this season will be football (4 episodes) and basketball (4 episodes).
The new season, hosted by Michael Strahan and Jay Glazer, premieres on July 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Vick, who is still under contract with the Eagles, recently admitted that he would be interesting in a bigger role on a team like the St. Louis Rams.
"I think I can be the difference maker on any team, especially a team like the St. Louis Rams, who need a lot of help and will get it based on their ownership and the general manager (Billy Devaney) they have who is a great guy and I know from Atlanta," he told ESPN Radio St. Louis earlier this week. "I just think bringing the right pieces in, putting the right players in the proper positions and giving them the opportunity to win, I think premier players could turn any team around. Yeah, I'm confident I could do that."
