ASPEN, Colo. — Charlie Sheen pleaded not guilty Monday to domestic violence charges stemming from a Christmas Day incident in which he allegedly held a knife to his wife's throat during a holiday getaway.
The actor entered his plea in a Colorado courtroom to counts of menacing, criminal mischief and assault.
Sheen's trial is scheduled to begin on July 21. If convicted, he could serve one to three years in prison.
Sheen was arrested after he allegedly got into a domestic dispute with his wife, Brooke Mueller, while spending the holiday in Aspen. Mueller, who placed the 911 call that landed her husband in jail, told police that the actor pinned her on a bed while holding a knife to her throat.
"My husband had me with a knife," Mueller is heard telling the dispatcher on the 911 call. "I was scared for my life and he threatened me."
Mueller and Sheen, who tied the knot in May 2008, welcomed their first children, twin boys, last March.
Sheen will resume shooting his CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men on Tuesday after entering rehab for an undisclosed reason on Feb. 23.
