HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Gwyneth Paltrow may fancy herself as a big-city girl, but she certainly isn't complaining about her days spent living in the "pretty great" town of Nashville.
"Never have I met such warm people, heard such good music, eaten so much fried chicken...I could go on and on," the 37-year-old actress writes in her latest Goop newsletter.
Paltrow recently spent several months in town filming her upcoming movie, Love Don't Let Me Down. One of her favorite memories was a trip to the Grand Ole Opry, where she watched Emmylou Harris, Carrie Underwood, and Vince Gill.
"People say the Opry is touristy, and this is true, but it is at the same time absolutely authentic and the quality of the concerts is truly remarkable," she says.
Paltrow also shares some of her favorite nightspots, including the Station Inn and Robert's Western World, which became her "favorite place for honkytonk dancing."
Of course, no trip to the area would be complete without some good old-fashioned southern cooking. Paltrow says she made several stops around town in her "quest for the best fried chicken." Among her favorite ventures was the Prince's Hot Chicken Shack.
"It's a long wait for and a long drive to the fried chicken here and for good reason," Paltrow writes. "It comes in 4 levels of hotness starting at mild and going to extra-hot and they mean business. One of our team suffered the consequences for the entire evening after."
