MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — "American Idol" star Paris Bennett gave birth to a baby girl in Minneappolis on Monday, her rep confirmed to People.
The 20-year-old Bennett welcomed daughter Egypt at 3:36 p.m. The singer's first baby weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz.
"I'm so excited to finally see my little angel — and man, does she have lungs on her," Bennett told the magazine in a statement. "I guess she's gearing up to be the next 'American Idol.' "
"Paris's mother Jamecia Bennett and her family is filled with excitement and welcomes their bundle of joy,” her rep added.
Bennett first announced that she was engaged and pregnant in June.
"I'm proud of how she did it. I was 16 when I got pregnant," her mother told the Minneapolis Star Tribune, while adding that the father "chooses not to be in the public eye."
Bennett earned the nickname "Princess P" when she appeared on the Fox reality show's fifth season in 2006.
She is due to release her first Christmas album, "A Royal Christmas," on Oct. 14.
