Murphy, Birch and Blanchard to Star in 'Deadline' Movie

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Brittany Murphy, Thora Birch and Tammy Blanchard have signed on board to star in the upcoming thriller film "Deadline," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Murphy, 30, will portray a writer who settles in at an abandoned house to write a screenplay. However, a case of writer's block and a string of events soon cause her to suffer a psychological breakdown.

Marc Blucas will also star in the film, which is described as "Shining"-like.

The feature, which started production last week in Louisiana, will mark the directorial debut of Sean McConville.

Murphy will next appear in theaters in the thriller film "Across the Hall."
