HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Linkin Park has cancelled its upcoming tour of China due to a back injury suffered by lead singer Chester Bennington.
"Linkin Park sincerely regrets this unavoidable cancellation and apologizes to fans for any disappointment caused. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase," the band wrote Tuesday on their official Web site.
The California rockers did not disclose how Bennington injured himself, but said doctors ordered him not to travel or engage in any physical activities. The band was also forced to cancel a show in Las Vegas on Monday.
Linkin Park had shows planned for Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Macau and Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. The dates were scheduled as a fundraiser to assist victim's of the deadly earthquake that struck China's Sichuan province in May.
The two-time Grammy winners say they are still donating to reconstruction efforts. Emma Ticketmaster, the promoter of their Chinese concerts, and the World Bank are also making generous donations.
