HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Miley Cyrus already fears the day when people wonder if she's up to no good.
"If I'm ever seen out dancing at a club having fun, I don't want people to immediately go, 'Oh, she's on drugs, she's drunk," the 17-year-old teen sensation said Thursday on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show. "Drugs are for idiots and I'm never going to be that person. As long as I steer clear of that and keep that mind frame, I think I'll be cool."
Cyrus said she already has "way too much fun on her own" and definitely doesn't feel the need to indulge. However, she also doesn't want to be hypocritical when it comes to letting loose.
"I'll never say that I'm going to be like, 'I'll never have a drink in my entire life,' because that's probably going to be a lie," she admitted. "But I think there's a right way to do so – everything is good in small portions."
One person who has become a major influence in the young star's life is Bret Michaels. Cyrus said the rocker, whom she referred to as the "ultimate party person," has shared plenty of war stories to help keep her in line.
"He's told me so many things," explained Cyrus. "Having him in my life and him just telling me some of the stories and some of the dumb crap that happens...he just makes me never want to do that stuff."
The "Can't Be Tamed" singer also opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth and her fears of getting hurt as the couple nears their one-year anniversary in seven days.
"I don't want to be heartbroken," she confessed. "He could go back to Australia any second. But I'm happy. It's different from anyone else because he really is just an awesome friend too."
