NEW YORK — Lady Gaga's "little monsters" were out in full force as the pop star performed in front of a packed audience Friday at Rockefeller Center for the Today Show's Summer Concert Series.
A crowd estimated at 20,000 showed up and braved the rain to watch Lady Gaga perform such hits as "Bad Romance" and "Alejandro." She also sang her newest song, "You and I," a track likely written about her relationship with back on-again boyfriend, Luc Carl.
"Thank you, New York. I love you. Thank you for changing my life and making my dreams come true," she said after finishing her last song, "Teeth."
On Thursday, Lady Gaga took to Twitter to thank her passionate fans for camping out in anticipation of her performance.
"My little monster sweeties are already camped outside today show! I love u!," she wrote. "Will be sending u pizza and water all day! And a suprise 2moro!X."
"May NY watchover u, + may u sleep smiling under the stars. Amen," she later added.
The crowd established a new record for a Today Show concert, knocking off a previous high set by teen heartthrob Justin Bieber.
