HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz have managed to get married under the radar.
The Hollywood twosome tied the knot in a small, private ceremony earlier this month, a rep for the actress confirmed Tuesday to People.
The bride wore a gown designed by designer John Galliano as the couple exchanged vows at a friend's house in the Bahamas.
Cruz, 36, and Bardem, 41, first met while filming Jamon, Jamon in 1992. They started dating in 2007, but their relationship wasn't confirmed until Woody Harrelson famously outed them when he presented Bardem with the Montecito Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in January 2008.
The couple has long refused to confirm engagement rumors. Last November, Cruz avoided the question during an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, which came a month after she showed up wearing a knuckle-sized sapphire-and-diamond ring at the Broken Embraces premiere during the New York Film Festival.
"I don't feel comfortable talking about my private life in public," Cruz told Letterman. "I've been here a few times with you, you know I'm tough. One thing I don't do, I don't lie about my personal life. It's sacred to me. It's my life. But I don't give details about it because I am allergic to that."
