"Nurse Jackie" made Showtime history when it was nominated for a whopping eight Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actress—the most for any single original series on Showtime and the largest tally for any premium TV series in this years Emmy derby. "Nurse Jackie" also distinguished itself by being the first Showtime series to be nominated in the coveted outstanding series category in its first (and second) season. Showtime received a total of 24 nominations with "Dexter" nabbing seven, including Outstanding Drama Series for the third consecutive year, Michael C. Hall for Lead Actor (his third) and John Lithgow for his sensational guest appearance.
