HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Shane Sparks will stand trial on eight sex counts involving an underage girl in the 1990s, a judge ruled after a preliminary hearing Monday.
Back in March, the former America's Best Dance Crew judge pleaded not guilty to six counts of a lewd act on a child and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16.
The criminal complaint alleged that the crimes occurred between July 1994 and April 1997. Sparks is said to have been at least 10 years older than the alleged victim.
The choreographer is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 15 at the Van Nuys courthouse.
Sparks, 40, was arrested Dec. 18 at his Studio City home. He was released a day later on $590,000 bail. His defense attorney, Steve Meister, has dismissed the claims, calling the accusations "extortion, Hollywood-style."
