LEWIS RUN, Pa. — Wesley Snipes has reported to a federal prison in Pennsylvania to begin serving his three-year sentence for tax evasion.
The 48-year-old Blade star exchanged his street clothes for a prison uniform shortly before noon at the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Lewis Run, ABC News reports.
U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges ordered Snipes to surrender to authorities last month, ending the actor's hopes for a new trial. He had been free on bond for more than two years while appealing his 2008 conviction on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file his income tax returns.
In a recent interview with CNN's Larry King, Snipes admitted he was worried about going to jail.
"I think any man would be nervous," he said. "Given the length of time that they are suggesting that I be away from my family, away from my profession, away from my ability to provide for my family and for those who have depended upon me to contribute to society ... I think anyone would be nervous about that."
