After 16 years of on-and-off dating, the rocker proposed to the mother of his two children on the Monday night finale of his VH1 reality show, Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

Getting down on one knee with a massive engagement ring, the 47-year-old Michaels told his longtime girlfriend: "I love you, and you've been unbelievably a big part of my life, and we have two beautiful girls together. ... I know we love and respect each other, and I hope that we can find that inner love that we have forever. And I want you to be my wife."

"Please say yes, or the rejection will kill me right now," added Michaels before Gibson, 39, happily accepted his proposal.

After the engagement, the happy twosome shared the news with their daughters: Raine, 10, and Jorja, 5.

"I did it!" Michaels told the couple's children. "We'll all be together forever! Family hug!"
