HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Britney Spears' father received permanent control of his daughter's personal and financial affairs at a Los Angeles hearing on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
Jamie Spears and an attorney for the family first received temporary control of the pop star's affairs in February, shortly after she was hospitalized on two separate occasions. The conservatorship was later extended until Dec. 31, prior to being made permanent Tuesday afternoon by Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz.
"The conservatorship is necessary and appropriate for the complexity of financial and business entities and her being susceptible to undue influence," said Goetz, according to several media reports.
The 26-year-old singer, who can still request that the conservatorship be lifted in the future, is said to be fine with the current arrangement.
