HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The legend of Ron Burgundy could be growing soon.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are plotting Burgundy's return to the newsdesk.
The 39-year-old McKay, who teamed with Ferrell in writing 2004's "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," tells EW that the duo have begun work on a sequel to the comedy, which grossed more than $90 million worldwide.
"The audience will now allow us to do even crazier stuff," McKay says, "and that's really all we're looking for in our careers."
Ferrell, 41, starred as Burgundy — San Diego's finest anchorman in the glorious '70s — who is suddenly forced to deal with an ambitious newswoman, Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate.
McKay, who appeared as a custodian in the original flick, says the sequel could leap into Burgundy's career in the '80s.
According to EW, DreamWorks has yet to engage in any discussions with the comedy team.
