Week after week, Dancing With the Stars, is all about the highs and lows that take place on stage. But this week, Erin Andrews is giving us a glimpse behind the curtain, dishing on not only everything that went into this surreal look she describes as “a Black Swan/Snow White and the Huntsman kind of vibe,” but also her freshened up dressing room courtesy of her interior designer, Ally Coulter, and the folks over at The Petal Workshop.

“My goal was to create a comfy haven for Erin to relax in and prep before and after her show,” Coulter tells PeopleStyle exclusively.
The interior designer chose to keep things in a neutral color palette, using white, cream and a touch of black to contrast with the room’s blue walls, “a classic timeless style,” she explains. In terms of the decor, Coulter, “featured our Fendi Casa Regina coffee table for a luminous and sexy glow,” adding, “curvaceous Tait chairs for comfort around the table. I chose our mirror with a built in TV in case Erin had to catch a game in between takes.” But even though she describes the room as “glam classic Hollywood style,” Coulter still kept things fun and light with a ballet leg side table, “that reminds us of all the dancers getting ready to perform.”
“It feels so sophisticated and special,” Erin gushed, “I have guests come to the show every week. When they walk into my room it’s so cool to see their expressions. They are blown away with the full length mirror/TV. The colors make the room seem crisp and clean. The little accents around the room are perfection, and the artwork is another level. All the pieces feel so hip…I love it.”
The host also gave a special shoutout to Matty from The Petal Workshop who put the final touches on the makeover, providing all the flowers that helped make the room, “look and smell amazing!”

But once the room was all ready to go, it was time to get down to the real business of crafting the perfect ensemble for Monday’s show. Erin and her stylist Alyssa Greene chose jewelry by Sethi and Hearts on Fire, shoes by M Gemi, and a stunning dress from Ong Oaj Pairam. Erin said that although she’s, “never had a look like this before, it was a fun risk for me to take. So many of the dancers came up and told me how much they loved it.” To which her stylist Alyssa Greene concurred, “We love tonight’s look because it is unexpected. It’s a beautiful printed silk with embroidered butterflies that look as though they are flying off of the gown. The long train gave it extra drama.” In more way than one, as Erin explained, “the hardest thing was dealing with the train. The dancers were jumping over it as I was interviewing them, but it photographed beautifully so I didn’t care.”

As for the hair, if this looks like something you might rock yourself on the way to SoulCycle, that’s because Erin says it was actually, “inspired by how I wear it to workout classes. I always throw a headband in with a ponytail or bun and thought it would be cool to try with this dress. It came out so awesome!”
Her hairstylist, Ryan Randall’s says he wanted to mirror the embellishments of the dress, “Texture, of course, is a given, so I felt something simple and chic like black ribbon, done in multiples was the perfect compliment. I built texture in the rough blowout with Sachajuan Ocean Mist, which makes for a great base, texture and hold. I used Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray to get added volume in the crown, and throughout the back. I twisted her hair back in two large twists, one down each side and met them the nape. I secured it all in a messy bun at the nape with hairpins. A quick dusting of L’Oréal Elnett to lock it all in. I chose 2 satin and 1 velvet ribbon, that I tied in as headbands, with slight separation between. I pulled the hair up slightly between the ribbons as an added touch of texture and whimsy. Imperfectly perfect is always the goal, and this week we s heaved just that. This look was perfection!”
Long story short, he says, “Our black swan was the envy of the ballroom.”
That black swan aesthetic was only heightened by her beauty choices which her makeup artist Lisa Ashley describes as “mysterious” and “smokey.” Using Sisley Paris’ new shadow palette, Ashley created a black and silver smokey eye that Erin says matched her dress perfectly. She finished off the look with a nude lip, which she says usually make Erin “feel a bit naked,” but was exactly what this look needed. Ashley started by putting foundation all over the lips and then piling on Lancôme’s Rich Cashmere lipstick and Basic Gloss by Tarte.
