Born into a showbiz family in Tarzana, Calif., Blake Lively made her acting debut at age 10 as the Tooth Fairy in the indie film, "Sandman" (1998). Her debut was directed by her father, Ernie Lively, a well-known character actor with over 100 screen credits.
Lively's mother is a talent agent, while her older siblings Lori, Jason, Eric, and Robyn are all established actors themselves. However, Lively decided to concentrate on school first, becoming class president and a cheerleader before returning to acting.
Just before beginning her senior year at Burbank High School, Lively landed a starring role opposite Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, and America Ferrera in the major motion picture "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," with her real-life dad playing her on-screen father. The role earned Lively a Breakthrough Performance nomination at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards.
Lively quickly became one of the most sought-after young actresses in Hollywood, and in 2007, she shot to stardom when she was cast in the de facto lead role of Serena van der Woodsen in the teen drama series "Gossip Girl," co-starring alongside Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Penn Badgley. The role established Lively as one of Hollywood's top young stars.
