At the age of 19, the San Juan Beauty was part of Puerto Rico's number one comedy/variety show, "Que Vacilon." When she turned 21, she took the biggest risk of her life, leaving her family and blossoming career behind to make her way to New York. She arrived barely speaking English, fueled only by her love of movies, theater, dance, and song.
Upon her arrival to New York, Sanchez immediately starred in two Spanish musicals, landed a role in the CBS soap opera, "As the World Turns," and wrote and performed a one woman show, "Out Here on My Own." She also auditioned for the show, "Fame L.A.," which landed her the lead role of dancer, Lili Arguelo. The role subsequently moved her to Los Angeles. Sanchez tackled the role with a passion and purpose that made her the show's most popular character.
Sanchez first wowed audiences in New Line's blockbuster hit "Rush Hour 2," in which she starred opposite Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. She portrayed the character Isabella Molina, an undercover Secret Service Agent who was Chan's love interest. Sanchez received an ALMA Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance.
Sanchez's next big break arrived in 2005 when she landed the role of Elena Delgado on the hit CBS television series "Without a Trace." Other notable credits for Sanchez over the years include such feature films as "Boat Trip" (2002), "Chasing Papi" (2003) and "The Game Plan" (2007).
In addition to her acting abilities, Sanchez is also a very talented singer. In 2003, she released her debut CD, entitled "Borinqueña." She was nominated for a Latin Grammy for "Best Music Video" for the single "Amor Amor," which she also performed at the 2004 Latin Grammy ceremony.
