Taylor Momsen was born in St. Louis, Mo. She has one younger sister, Sloane, who also works as an actress.
Momsen began acting professionally at age 3 with a national commercial for Shake 'N' Bake. She landed her first film role with 1999's "The Prophet's Game" before her breakthrough performance the following year in Ron Howard's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." In the film, which grossed over $340 million worldwide, Momsen starred alongside Jim Carrey as Cindy Lou.
More film roles would follow for Momsen, including "We Were Soldiers" (2002), "Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams" (2002), "Hansel & Gretel" (2002) and "Saving Shiloh" (2006).
In 2007, Momsen shot to stardom in the role of Jenny Humphrey, the freshman from Downtown Soho who tries to fit in with the wealthy kids from New York's Upper East side, on The CW hit drama "Gossip Girl."
In addition to her acting, Momsen was signed to IMG Models in 2008. She is also a talented singer.
