TAMPA, Fla. — In her first performance since her family murder tragedy last October, Jennifer Hudson sang the National Anthem at Sunday’s Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa.
Hudson's rousing rendition drew plenty of cheers from the crowd at Raymond James Stadium, where the Pittsburgh Steelers went on to outlast the Arizona Cardinals in a dramatic 27-23 Super Bowl victory.
Prior to Hudson's performance, the NFL paid tribute to pilot Chesley Sullenberger and the heroic crew of U.S. Airways Flight 1549, followed by Faith Hill singing "America the Beautiful."
Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were shot to death last fall in her hometown of Chicago.
