LOS ANGELES — Chris Brown is reportedly taking anger management classes while authorities continue their investigation into the singer's arrest earlier this month, according the New York Post.
The newspaper reports that the R&B star took his first class on Monday in Glendale, Calif., after his recently hired publicist, Michael Sitrick, made the recommendation.
"Chris doesn't actually have to go by law," a source told the Daily News, "but he believes it will make him look better to the public, and he wants to try to get in a few classes before March 5."
March 5 is when Brown is scheduled to appear in court following his Feb. 8 arrest for allegedly making criminal threats against his girlfriend, fellow R&B star Rihanna. He is currently free on $50,000 bail.
Brown has only spoken out once publicly since the incident, releasing a statement that expressed his remorse.
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," the 19-year-old singer said. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."
While investigators are reportedly looking to put together a felony case against Brown, some insiders say the incident on the eve of the Grammys wasn't entirely his fault.
"Rihanna is temperamental, too," one source told the paper. "They're both too hot-headed for their own good."
"It didn't help that Rihanna grabbed the keys out of his rented Lamborghini and threw them down the street," added another insider. "She knew it would really infuriate Chris, and it worked."
