HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — While she's endured her share of heartbreak over the years, Jennifer Aniston wouldn't want it any other way.
"I remind myself every day that I am lucky," says Aniston, who turned 40 last month, in the April issue of Elle UK. "Look what's out there. Look what people are really living through. There's no comparison. I am happy."
Aniston realizes that her 2005 divorce from Brad Pitt will always be a hot tabloid subject, but she tells the magazine there's really not much to the story.
"No matter what I say, things will always be taken out of context and misinterpreted, will always be turned around to make it seem as though I won’t let something go, or that I just keep talking about it over and over," she explains.
"I don't owe anybody anything," the former "Friends" star continues. "I don't owe anybody my side of the story. There are no sides!There is no bad guy and there is no good guy. There are no villains and there is no heroine in this story. It's just not the case."
While her 40th birthday recently came and went, Aniston continues to be a major box-office draw. Her last two films, "Marley & Me" and "He's Just Not That Into You" opened at No. 1 and she realizes growing older makes it more challenging to remain on top. Aniston, who credits her youthful look to neutrogena soap, regular facials and a sunscreen obsession, admits to being a realist as far as Hollywood is concerned.
"I know that if I eat nothing but burgers and chips, I'm not going to be hired for the parts I normally would," she tells the mag. "That might be fine one day, but not right now."
While she's known for her comedic chops, Aniston says one day she'd love to roll up her sleeves and get dirty on the big screen.
"I get offered funny, quirky, pretty roles," she shares. "I'd love to do an action movie. James Bond! Glamour! Daniel Craig! S--t-loads of fun!"
