NEW YORK — Jimmy Fallon made his long-awaited debut Monday as host of NBC's "Late Night," garnering mixed reviews in the process.
"A typically stiff debut that nonetheless displays the host's charm and potential," wrote Ray Richmond of The Hollywood Reporter.
The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member welcomed actor Robert De Niro as his first guest, with singer Justin Timberlake also paying an opening-night visit.
In this clip, Fallon gives his opening monologue, classified by The Associated Press as "brisk, if forgettable."
