HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Dakota Fanning finally has a contract with plenty of bite.
The 15-year-old actress has officially signed on to star in "New Moon," the highly-anticipated sequel to last year's box-office smash, "Twilight."
Fanning was first offered the role in January and has been in talks ever since with the film's studio, Summit Entertainment.
A rep for Summit confirmed to People that Fanning will portray the sinister vampire Jane, who is a member of the evil Volturi.
Shooting on the film is scheduled to begin later this month in Vancouver.
In January, Fanning shared her excitement about playing Jane in "New Moon," which hits theaters in November.
"It would be very cool to do it," she told Entertainment Weekly. ""I am a very big fan of the books. I read them all and Jane is an interesting part."
