HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — As it turns out, Ashton Kutcher is more powerful than CNN.
The 31-year-old actor has topped the news network in the race to become the first Twitter user with one million followers.
Kutcher reached the mark at 2:13 a.m. ET, according to a real-time tracker established by the Huffington Post. Yes, you read that right. Someone actually developed an official tracker!
"We are over a million. CNN is still trying to get there. And that is just how it goes," Kutcher popped off as he celebrated with his wife, actress Demi Moore. "There are a million people that need to be thanked for this."
With the victory, Kutcher is planning to make good on a promise to donate 10,000 mosquito nets to the medical charity Malaria No More.
Next up for Kutcher is a date with Oprah Winfrey. He'll be appearing on the media mogul's talk show Friday and giving her a few Twitter tips.
